We're Back, A Pop Arena Story

Well, I know I've promised time and time again that I'll get better at my updating. This is another promise. I'm sorry, I'm really trying. Hopefully, a BRAND SPANKING NEW front page design should help stir the creative juices! Check it out:

http://www.pop-arena.com

And to top it off, we have a new article on Generation X, the fail 1996 TV pilot based on the comic book series of the same name. It's mostly crap, but if you manage to get your hands on a copy, watch it for Matt Frewer's wonderful over-the-top performance alone. You can read the article HERE!

Power Rangers Vs. The Internet (plus other stuff)

Hey, everyone. I updated for once! Today, it's a review of a Power Rangers comic book, in which the Power Rangers comes face to face with the rising threat that is the world wide web! You can read it HERE!

Also, I'm starting to make Doggy Comics again, and I plan to update them every Tuesday and Friday, so keep a look out at the bottom of the screen.

And in case you missed it, THE BEST & WORST OF 2006!

Christmas In Tattertown

Yeah, I know I haven't exactly been the most available person around. My work has cleared up some, AND I have a computer of my own now, so updates should hopefully return to normal. As for the last article of 2006, enjoy this painful look at Ralph Bakshi's attempt to make a Christmas special for Nick entitled Christmas At Tattertown.

Greg's Writing Life

Yes, I know. It's been, what, months. I have a huge collection of reasons I've taken so long to update that I won't pester you with, let me just assure you there were reasons and I wasn't just being a lazy ass. With that said, I present one of my biggest Pop Arena projects to date: Greg's Writing Life, a collection of observations I've made over the years as an Entertainment (E/N) Site Writer. I spent a lot of time and effort on this, and I'm very interested in what you think.

And don't worry, those of you who prefer you Pop Arena without angst, we'll be returning to our regular theme of articles soon enough. Here's what we got planned for the 2nd half of 2006.

-The X-Men movie you didn't see.
-More Fairfield site seeing, including old style arcades, jelly bean factories and water parks.
-Pee-Wee Herman
-My kid sister.
-My super secret thousand dollar project which really isn't an article but whatever.
-Commercials, magazines, and other what-have-yous.

In the meantime, please, read Greg's Writing Life. You can get to it either by clicking the image above or clicking HERE!

Wanna make a movie?

This is a shot out to people in the Fairfield-Suisun area (or those farther who are willing to commute) who have an interest in acting or film production. Iím beginning work on a full-length low-budget independent film, and I need actors and crew. I canít reveal much about the film right now, but those of you who actually like GOOD movies will be pleased to know that I am making neither a crappy B horror flick (though there may be blood) nor a dumb comedy strung together by sex jokes (though there may be light nudity). Itís just a really good story told on film.

This is not a fast track to a Hollywood career or even a means of making a living (if I can even pay people is still up in the air), but if you enjoy the art of film, good storytelling, or just think it would be fun to do, please contact me at greg@pop-arena.com

P.S. If your unavailable to help, but have advice youíd like to give, please donít be afraid to share it.

Fairfield = Home

You know those articles I used to write about the various quirks on Orofino? Well, just because I'm no longer in Orofino doesn't mean I'm gonna stop writing articles like that. Welcome to Fairfield, the home of the first ten years of my childhood, and now the home of my early adulthood. Today, we take a trip back to two of my old houses as well as other locals from my kidling years, including the field where the legendary Great Water War took place, and perhaps even the true home of the Ninja Turtles!

You can read the article HERE!

P.S. This is article #199. What do I got planned for article #200? SOMETHING HUGE!

Power Rangers: Year One (Yellow)

Yes, I probably have gone mad. As if I wasn't such a loser for liking Power Rangers as much as I do, now I'm writing fricken FAN FICTION for it. I present "Power Rangers: Year One." If you read Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One," you'll probably know what this is: a darker retelling of the Power Rangers' first adventures. I'm not really rewritten episodes here so much as I'm adding subtext that wasn't present before.

This first part of a five-part series (to fit along with all the other series I need to finish) focuses on Trini, the Yellow Ranger, and her conflicts as seen in the 2nd Power Rangers episode ever, "High Five". You can read it HERE!

Spidey News

Here's my latest project: Spidey News, perhaps the dumbest title I could think of but I don't care. If you don't like your Spider-Man 3 SPOILED SPOILED SPOILED than don't click this link:

Otherwise, prepare for Venom madness.

Yes, I do have articles on deck. Patience.
